Mattancherry is a historic town at Kochi; built by the Portuguese in traditional Kerala style. It contains many heritage structures; most of which are either in a dilapidated state or in an under-utilized condition. So, in my thesis the thrust area was to document the existing structures and analyze whether or not to conserve and restore those buildings or convert into adaptive reuse. In addition to these outcomes, I have also focused on the street redevelopment and facilitated effective use of those buildings by the localites and tourists.
